Scotland

Heya

Well we have just spend a wonderful 10 days in Scotland, and wished we could have stayed there for longer!
Day 1: Monday 13th April - We left York for a sunny first leg of our trip to get to Glasgow. We went via the Lake District - which was just awamazing, and if any of you have never been and have the chance -then i would take it up in a heart beat! The sun was shining, the baby lambs were enjoying life and the water was a beautiful blue! Unfortunately, we were only doing a drive through but a taste of it is better than nothing. After a long day of driving we were in Glasgow for the night.

Day 2: We had a wander through Glasgow city for a few hours before heading off to Invergarry - just south of Loch Ness and North of Fort William. Although there were a few clouds in the sky it was still a nice day and the drive was a pleasant one going from the city into a stunning array of mountains and Scottish Loch's (lakes).
Our Hostel was really nice and we got there early enough to go for a nice wander into the little village and down the river before going into the local pub for a nice cold, well deserved pint.
Day 3: We woke up to lovely sunshine! What a wicked day to go for a hike by a river and through a forest! It took us 4 hours, but it was well worth it as the views were just stunning. It was also really nice to just enjoy the day and not be in any rush to do anything!
After our hike we headed in Fort Augustus to check that out for a short while before having dinner and basically crashing after a well spend day!

Day 4 and 5: We left our lovely little village to head up to the Scottish Highlands. We started the drive by looking for Nessie in the well known Loch Ness - We did actually get to see her (just don't tell anyone!). We then carried on North up the East coast - via the Glenmorangie Whisky Distillary - before cutting inland to the West to our next stop 20 miles north of Ullapool, to Inchnadamph - Another little village in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains everywhere.

The next day we had another big hike day, fitting in 2 different hikes. The first one was called 'The Bone Caves' - where we walked along a river and then up into a hill to look at 4 different caves where many bones and skeletons of animals have been found. The hike was quite an easy one but the wind was quite strong (as you will see in the pics). Our next and most impressive hike/climb was up a mountain called 'Stac Pollaidh' - 612 meters high. At first glance we really did not think that we would get to the top - but we did and man what an experience! It was just stunning with 360 degree views of the sea, many lochs and other surrounding mountains.

Day 6 and 7: We were now off to the Isle of Skye - a volcanous island off the west coast. It really is just covered in Mountains. The first afternoon after we arrived we headed off to see one of the local beaches (a beach with huge mountains right next to it), then for dinner out in the garden watching the sunset (at 8.30-9pm!).

The next day was just as sunny with no wind - today we had decided to drive around the Isle to check out all the sites. Some were not that impressive but others were just amazing - the kilt rock and waterfall, and the millions of years old mountains where a dino footprint was discovered!

Day 8 and 9: Off to Edinburgh for a couple of days to catch up with Ewan and Aarron!
It was quite nice to have a bit of time not driving and just chilling out really. We also had an Ale tasting at one of the local pubs and ended up with some free stuff - gotta love free stuff! hehe.

Day 10: Driving back to Leeds to meet Ben and Danny and to get ready for our big Europe trip.
What an AWESOME time we had in Scotland - Loved it!
